Who is the Marketing Research Analyst?


The Marketing Research Analyst freelancer supports the full-time research team as needed, aiding in key research activities such as:


  • methodology
  • designing, developing, and testing instrumentation
  • data collection
  • analysis and reporting

You possess an unquenchable passion for learning and understanding why consumers behave the way that they do. You have a significant level understanding of research methodologies and relevant data analysis techniques. You want to learn more about marketing research and digital marketing. You are a self-starter that can organize details and help carry projects across the finish line working independently or collaboratively as a team.


In this position, you will assist with multiple research projects, working together with members of the research+ strategy team to distill key findings into actionable insights and executable strategy.


In this role, you can expect to:


  • Assist with recruitment strategies for sourcing study participants
  • Recruit for studies via telephone, email, or public postings
  • Vet/screen research participants
  • Contribute to the creation of appropriate instrumentation and protocols
  • Assist with the collection of research data e.g., focus groups, UX testing, surveys
  • Support with dissemination of research participation incentives
  • Support with transcription of audio files from interview sessions
  • Perform hematic coding of qualitative data
  • Distill raw qualitative and quantitative data into key insights
  • Perform competitor audits by analyzing landscape content, web functionality, digital performance
  • Share key insights along the research process with internal and external stakeholders
  • Complete ad-hoc research inquiries as requested
  • Analyze heatmaps and user recordings
  • Analyze user testing responses
  • Partner with strategy team to inform appropriate consumer marketing efforts
  • Assist with the presentation of research to clients

What do You Need?


  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in behavioral research or equivalent work experience
  • 3 plus years of experience
  • Interest in behavioral research and a passion for understanding consumer behavior
  • Foundational understanding of research methods and descriptive statistical analysis
  • Foundational understanding of thematic coding
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Comfort supporting multiple projects and prioritizing time and working flexibly/independently
  • Comfort proactively seeking guidance and receiving and implementing feedback
  • Skilled at pulling actionable insights from multiple inputs and presenting insights and recommendations to internal/external stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
