Agrawal shared his thoughts on inbound marketing. He argued <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/ajagrawal\/2016\/01\/21\/why-inbound-marketing-is-essential-in-2016\/#453f187d6554\">inbound is no longer a \u201cnice to have<\/a>\u201d opportunity, as he put it, but absolutely necessity.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Outbound marketing happens when a company sends messaging out to an audience. The messages are intended to promote its own products or services through a variety of tactics, including TV and radio commercials, newspaper and magazine ads, and out-of-home executions. You know, the traditional marketing tactics. Mad Men stuff.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Another way to refer to outbound is \u201cpush\u201d marketing, wherein a business pushes its message to potential customers. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>But \u201cpushing\u201d is often remarkably inefficient. The ROI on a national television campaign, for example, can be hard to justify in the era of tight, or shrinking, marketing budgets.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, inbound marketing reaches consumers when they\u2019re actually <em>looking<\/em> to purchase. And that predisposition makes a big difference \u2013 it makes it far easier to turn consumers into <em>customers<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Inbound marketing links motivated consumers to products and services through content marketing, social media marketing, search engine optimization and other non-intrusive methods.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>Another way to put it: Agrawal says inbound marketing enables your brand to be \u201cfound\u201d by your target consumers. In short, for the sake of marketing success, inbound marketing is a great alternative to running ads. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<h2>Rather than pushing, inbound marketing \u201cpulls\u201d customers to relevant, beneficial content and social engagement.<\/h2>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>And consumers aren\u2019t going to \u201cblock\u201d content they find valuable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the January, 2016 issue of Forbes, marketing advisor A.J.
